New construction has been scarce in Albuquerque with the available buildable land being developed. New home builders in Albuquerque have faced a significant downturn in construction activity since 2008, primarily due to the aftermath of the subprime mortgage crisis and the ensuing economic recession. Tighter lending regulations, decreased consumer confidence, and an oversupplying of existing homes contributed to a reluctance among builders to invest in new projects. However that does not mean that new home builders are not investing in new projects, there are a number of new constructions going on right now.

Pulte homes and DR Horton are builders that are working on new construction in the Mesa Del Sol area. Pulte Homes have 88 lots that they are building homes on starting at $369,990. This is excellent news given the scarcity of available homes in that price range let alone new construction homes. DR Horton has 57 lots on which they will be building five (5) different Floorplan. DR Horton has not released the pricing on the new homes. However, they are going to be in the $300,000 to $400,000 price range. Mesa Del Sol is a up and coming community that has increadable potential, with Netflix studios, Kirkland AFB and easy access to I-25 and I-40.
